Bloomin' heck, the plum trees are looking incredibly well laden this year. If all this lot fatten up and ripen then I'll certainly have my work cut out using them all. Good job I've been putting away all the empty jam jars since Christmas! I've never attempted to make jam before but thought I might give it a go this summer - both P and I enjoy plum jam and it would be a good way to preserve the fruit long after summer is gone (especially as we are sans a freezer in this house). Seeing how many plums there are I'm really wishing I'd bought the unused large jam pan which was only £3.50 at a Christmas Bazaar last winter - what a twit!
Two years ago we had so many plums we didn't know what to do with them all and gave carrier bags full away to the neighbours as well as having a lot simply rot on the trees (there is a limit to how many evenings you can stomach stewed plums for dessert!) Last year the crop was dreadful. I think I had half a dozen or so lots of stewed plums myself and let next door have a very small bag of plums too. Fingers crossed, this year will end up being a bumper harvest again.
Wish I was a bit nearer to you and I would happily relieve you of a few of those plums.
Not sure how well they would travel to Bristol.
Love the birthday crown you made for our boy,
You are very talented, as well as being a brilliant daughter

I feel certain that Elizabeth would take her dear Mum a few bagfuls of plums to Bristol!
The tree looks lovely, so full of life.
The picture of the wisteria? It reminds me of home.(sigh).

Lucky you, we didn't get any plums this year and I'm rationing out the last of the chilli plum sauce from the year before.

I'll swap you - my crab apple tree is always too much for me to cope with. How much crab apple jelly can a girl use ?
If you're ever in the Shoeburyness are, let me know !

When I was a kid, we had a plum tree in our front garden. Each year my dad used the plums to make wine. Could be a good way to use up your excess plums?
