Yup, it's the time of year when I gather up the old deodorant sticks from the past 12 months (judiciously kept just for this very reason), chip out what is left into a small glass dish and nuke it in the microwave for a few seconds to make as much of a 'new' deodorant stick as I can.
This year I had two lots of stick deodorant to salvage - my 'Tom's of Maine' one and P's 'Arm & Hammer Advance'. I had more of mine left over so could make a larger 'new' stick whereas poor old P had really used as much as he possibly could of the Arm & Hammer stuff so I couldn't dig so much out of the old pots. P really loves this deodorant and it very much suits his (somewhat allergic) skin too, he bought a lot of it when he was in Hong Kong last year but if anyone knows where we could get hold of it in the UK we'd be very grateful as the tiny amount I managed to salvage is all he has left! And the summer's coming!!
If anyone is interested in doing this here are the original instructions I gave on the blog two years ago 'The tip in The Tightwad Gazette suggested scraping out all the old deodorant from a few used sticks, putting them in a glass bowl and zapping it in the microwave (I'd do this for a few seconds at a time and keep on checking how liquid it has become). Once the deodorant is liquid again tip it back into one of the empty deodorant sticks, wait for it to cool and harden and it can be reused.'
