Spotted this enormous heron perched on the roof of a nearby house yesterday evening. I'd heard there was one in the area as he has been spotted before and also people are complaining about the fish stocks in their garden ponds going down rapidly. I must admit seeing such a large bird in the gathering twilight gave me quite a shock initially.
Perhaps he was trying to outdo the cats in your other post?

Gosh that IS a bit sinister!
As I live by the river there are lot of birds similar to that which stand on the pier and make lots of noise...though they're not quite as big (and I'm no expert on birds so not sure if they're herons).
