So the summer solstice has come and gone for another year. I just love this point in the summer - when it's still light in the sky at 10.00 pm and not totally dark even at 11.00 pm and when it starts to get light again by about 4.00 am. It's so wonderful
Once, when I was bemoaning the fact that it's dark by 4.00 pm in the middle of winter, P asked me if I would prefer it if the sunset summer and winter was at about 7.00 in the evening (like it is in the tropics.) Honestly, I don't think I would.
Even though the dreary dark winter days are horrible I do feel we more than compensate for it by having these long light summer evenings. And to celebrate not only midsummer's day but also the fact that it was finally warm(ish) enough, we ate our evening meal al fresco - it was wonderful.
Sounds wonderful - it's already too hot here to eat outside (or do much of anything except possibly swim). We're running in high 90's and sometimes 100 and it's only June - I really dread July and August. However our winters aren't as bad or as dark as yours. I guess it's all relative!
Blessings!

I'm with you Elizabeth. I hate short days in winter and would prefer a longer day.
I saw you picked up a Soap and Glory product at the boot sale the other day. I'm a big fan of this brand and always grab it if I see it.
Also thank you very much for the comment you left on my last post - it is appreciated.

Where I live at this time of year is does not get dark at all, we in Skye are on the same latitude at St Petersburg so we have the white nights , which I love! However half the year is almost always dark or dusk, but summer more than makes up for it, and I love being by the fire, battened down for winter!
