This was the snowy scene in Bristol last week.
And this is a more usual winter vista.
I can't tell you how delighted I am to see green grass again. No more taking your life in your hands just to get to the gate on ice that was as slippery as glass. No more being shut up in the house because of the icy pavements and roads, and no more being swathed in layers and layers of clothing to keep out the cold. Snow may be pretty on Christmas cards but it's vile anywhere else. For the time being it seems, normal UK winter weather has returned - and long may it continue. In fact, I'll take grey, damp and foggy days from now 'til the end of March if that's what it needs to keep arctic air at bay!!
Exactly how I feel too! I have been so happy since the thaw began - freedom to go out again without worrying about falling over. I've always liked rainy dull days and will be happy without arctic weather!

Crunchy snow was fine to walk on but yesterday when it started to thaw, we walked along the canal towpath and it was a skating rink! Today I was relieved to see the snow/ice gone.
