Most of the crafting I have done recently is for Christmas presents, so I'm unable to show what I've been up to on the blog in case the people concerned are reading (yes, Mum, that does mean you!!). One of the items I've started on is something for P knitted in the softest alpaca / silk mix yarn. This is proving rather slow going as I can only sensibly knit when he's out of the house - I did try knitting whilst he was upstairs yesterday evening but he kept coming back downstairs and I had to keep stuffing the knitting back in its bag double quick, not the best way to knit really.
I have started on a couple of other projects which I can safely show.
An apple washcloth using the gorgeous red Rowan cotton I thrifted last week. I'm hoping I'll be able to get at least two of these washcloths from this ball of yarn.
Yesterday afternoon I got around to cutting out some fabric to make a couple of winter-weight bags
The russet tweed material is for the outer part of the bag and the cream polka-dot linen is for the lining - both fabrics were thrifted a little while ago. I'm intending to use one of my Matryoshka appliques on the front of the bag.
This little Matryoshka card was a bit of an experiment a couple of weeks ago. I'd forgotten all about it until I unearthed it in amongst a large pile of books yesterday. I'm not sure if it's entirely successful but I may have a go at another one or two before I give up the idea altogether.
This lovely card arrived with my parcel from Gill last week.
She made it herself and it is absolutely brilliant - waaaaaay better than any card I've ever attempted.
Whilst typing this post, I'm listening to the audio book version of Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, read by Stephen Fry. A lucky find in the charity shop this morning and a really nice alternative to my rather repetitive selection of CDs. I've read all the Harry Potter books but it is great to have someone else 'read it' to you for a change.
