I think the first weekend in May is some sort of record for the latest start to the car boot sale season I can ever remember. Last year the weather was so glorious in March and April that I managed to start car booting in late March, and went to three sales over the Easter weekend alone. This spring the weather has been so poor every weekend in Essex that its really taken its toll on car boots.
Never mind, this weekend the weather has improved hugely and I finally got to go to one. It was incredibly busy with hundreds of sellers and buyers and I came away with a stack of books for re-sale plus
a Cath Kidston / Ikea Rosali pillowcase. If it hadn't have been right on the top of a box of mixed duvet covers and pillowcases then I doubt I would have noticed it but at 50p it was my star buy of the day.
My trusty shopping trolley came with me but both it and I were somewhat mud-splattered by the end of the morning. The fields were a tad quagmire-like, and I was very pleased that I'd decided to wear my oldest trainers and not my summery Birkenstocks - otherwise I would possibly have contracted trench foot!!
I could have gone to another car boot this morning (what with it being the May Bank Holiday in the UK), but decided to just potter around the house and garden instead. As the weather forecast looks set fair for a few days I'll be off to the same site on Thursday morning for another, much smaller, car boot. Hopefully, the ground will have dried out a bit by then!
I just love that pattern! It is my favorite.
