Along with most other things about my figure, my bra size is far from the norm - small cup size, broad back - so buying a new bra is always a bit fraught.
Recently the two wonderful (new) bras I bought for £2.50 each at a car boot sale 18 months ago have both bitten the dust. This left me with one white and one black bra that were wearable ouside of the house and I'd taken to changing my bra for an old and frankly useless one, every time I came home.
I'd had a look on ebay but even there my size bras were not overly cheap, and if I bought them in a shop they would be at least £20.00 each - that's if I could even find the correct size anywhere on the high street.
As a last resort, I decided to have a really good search through my commodious underwear drawer, in the hopes of locating something vaguely wearable. Success!! I found not one but two perfectly good bras - one I don't even remember having seen before - so I can now breathe a huge sigh of relief and, possibly, even chuck out some of the worst offenders I've been wearing about the house. It's amazing what is lurking in the depths of my wardrobe and drawers!
I may be a bit sparse with posts this coming week as DN and his mummy are coming to stay with me in Essex for the next few days. We're off to the Dr Who exhibition at Earl's Court on Tuesday, and hope to be able to get to Southend on Sea one day if the weather improves (well, we can but dream).
Since losing about 15 kilos in the space of a couple of months due to illness, I've also been left without bras that fit me properly and being as I'm now trying to put that weight back on, I'm loath to spend money on bras that will only fit for a while. I sometimes wear one that's too big but most of the time I just let 'em swing and look forward to the time when I can again get hold of a proper, well-fitting bra :)

I have the opposite problem - big boobs but a narrow back - so my size is not easily found on the high street. In fact I have just this morning ordered two bras online for £54!! Yikes! But I can't stress enough the difference getting properly fitted has made, so this is one area where I'm happy to pay the extra.

Just discovered your blog and love it! You have such a way with words and are a girl after my own heart - can't remember the last time I bought something new! Keep up the wonderful blog, I'll keep popping back.

Bras! Instruments of torture most of them. Im a card carrying member of the IBTC (itty bitty titty club)and need a nice padded one with a big back strap.
I thought I found some good ones in Asda but washed them at 30 degrees and they fell to bits!
Isn't it nice when you think you have to spend money and then discover you already had it stored away.

Bras are a menace and more so for those who just don't fit the mould, so to speak. Standard sizes are cheap but..
And don't get me started on knickers!
