I wish I could crochet, I really do, but somehow the skill just eludes me. I've been incredibly envious of the many talented crocheters out there who have been producing some lovely 'Granny Square' items recently. I'd love to be able to sit down with my crochet hook in hand and whisk up something pretty and useful but, for the sake of my sanity (and the sanity of those around me), I've given up even trying.
So, I was very pleased to find this small crocheted blanket at this morning's car boot sale for 50p. It's done in lovely pastel colours and is a really nice firm texture. I suspect it may have originally been a pram or cot blanket but it looks lovely just gracing one of my garden chairs and will be equally useful over my lap in colder weather. Very nice, and utterly totally beyond my ability.
PS - Did you know that Captain Hook (from Peter Pan) is known as Capitain Crochet in French? Ah, it's amazing what little gems you can discover at Euro Disney.
Very nice - certainly a bargain at 50p! Lovely soft colours.

What a great bargain!
I can crochet and quite well but I'm just plain lazy and can't be bothered! I had a wonderful adopted Auntie who taught me to crochet, knit, sew , embroider and everything crafty. I miss her so much.
Maybe I should dig out my crochet hook and start making a blanket? Or a cushion, or a square?
Or maybe I'll just lay in wait and see if I can repeat the cracking bargain that you made at the booty!
50p! Such a steal :-)
