As if to make up for the dearth of thrift this past weekend, a quick foray to Billericay's charity shops this morning turned up some excellent items.
Star find has to be not one but three unused Babycham tea towels - 25p each. I couldn't believe my luck in finding these and I had another customer breathing down my neck as I pulled one after the other from the pile of linens. When I left the shop she was busily ferreting about through the other tea towels that were left. Sadly for her, I'd snaffled all the Babycham ones there.
A brand new bra for my sister - which I'm pretty certain is the correct size (fingers crossed) - for £2.00.
Five knitting magazines for me to peruse, including one which is May 2011 - 29p each.
And three really pretty vintage fabric-covered coat hangers found languishing in the 10p box.
I have to say much as I didn't like living in Billericay (we were there for a year) I do enjoy a regular perusal of their six charity shops, which for a smallish town is quite a sizeable number (we only have three in Wickford). And that's not counting the Oxfam shop which is currently being refurbished after having burnt down a couple of months ago (and took the adjacent Clark's shoe shop with it). I don't know what it is with Oxfam shops and fires but the one in Wickford (now defunct) also had a fire in it a couple of years ago.
That Babycham tea towel is a fabulous find! I think I'd have to turn it into a tote bag so the heavy breather seethed with envy every time she saw you. x

Dear Liz,
Thanks for the bra, I was only just thinking that my underwear is getting a bit scruffy and I could do with a new bra - it must be telepathy.
Thanks again.
