Back last year, I bought a little bag of teeny crocheted Granny squares at one of the Vintage and Handmade Textile Fairs - they cost £1.50 for a pack of 13, which I thought was pretty good value. Naturally, they've just been gathering dust in my craft trolley ever since as I had no idea what to do with them. Yesterday, flushed with the success of my new crochet cushion, I thought they might look good on some recycled card blanks.
I got into a bit of a pickle initially as I thought it would be easiest to put the double-sided tape directly onto the crochet - nope, that was not the best idea I've ever had (cue a fair bit of bad language!) as I just couldn't get enough purchase to pull the backing strip off. Once I'd thought it through a bit more carefully, it was obvious to stick the double-sided tape to the card blank first, then take off the backing strip, and then stick the crochet to the card. Simples!
I've only done a couple of cards so far as my stock of recycled card blanks is rather limited (must check and see if they're available on eBay,) but I'm quite pleased with them. Especially as at last I've found a use for the teeny tiny Granny squares.
Ooh, what a cool idea ! I might buy some shimmery embroidery thread and see if I can crochet teeny ones myself, as Christmas cards.
