First name out of the virtual hat was Morag who already has a copy of 'The Pauper's Cookbook' so she'll be getting the copy of 'On Next to Nothing' and Sarah Morris was the second name out so I'll send her the copy of 'The Pauper's Cookbook.' I'll send both of you an e-mail so you can let me know your addresses.
I seem to have absolutely no other blog-worthy news at the moment. I'm finding these days of perpetual gloom and semi-daylight - swiftly followed by pitch-black darkenss - exceedingly trying, and we've got weeks and weeks of this to look forward to yet!!!! Gordon Bennett, it's enough to drive me bonkers. At least there's the annual Christmas Bazaar at the local church next Friday to lighten the gloom at little - it's usually a fantastic bazaar and I am looking forward to it with great anticipation.
Thank you very much! I'm looking forward to combining nostalgia and frugality in one interesting read. You've also inspired me to dig out the Pauper's Cookbook. I know Sarah will find much to enjoy as well.
All the best,
Morag

Couldn't agree more about the dark, gloomy days - I find it hard to get going with anything at all at the moment.

I just wanted to say that I bought my first copy of The Pauper's Cookbook in 1979 and have a copy of Jocaster Innes' revised book from the late 90s( ? I think). To me she was the doyenne of thrift and her books on paint effects and finishes and how to put together a home cheaply also filled me with inspiration.
I hope Sarah enjoys her book, I can fully recommend the Potato, Bacon and Onion Hotpot!!
Best wishes
Alison
